Hisar: The Hansi police have registered a case of fraud against a government doctor, an insurance agent and eight others for claiming a sum of Rs 1 crore as accidental insurance of three cancer patients. Police have started investigation of the matter, but no arrests have been made so far.
Hansi City police station has registered a case on the complaint of chief manager of Apollo Munic Health Insurance Company Vineet Jain against medical officer of Hansi civil hospital Dr Vijayaswarup Malik, insurance agent Manoj, Omprakash of Bandaheri village, Amit Goel of Hansi, Sunil Kumar of Kharar village, Mahendra Singh of Badya Brahmanan village, Anil Kumar of Jamalpur village in Bhiwani, Joga Singh of Kapro village in Jind, Meena Devi and Vijender Singh under sections 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 467 (forgery of valuable security, will), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (using as genuine a forged document or electronic record) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
In a complaint given to the police, Jain said the accused were members of a gang that presented deaths of cancer patients as accidental basis on false FIRs and post-mortem reports.
The insurance company first complained about it to the Haryana director general of police (DGP) on November 21, 2018. When there was no response, on April 30 this year the company complained to the inspector general of police (IG) of the special task force (STF). After that the STF advised the company to make a complaint to the district police. On July 25, the company complained to the Hansi police. The complaint was marked to the economic offences wing (EOW) for investigation. The case was registered after five months of probe by the EOW.
