IRCTC free air, rail travel insurance of up to Rs 50 lakh, compensation for delay, other key things

New Delhi: Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) offers free-of-cost air travel insurance of Rs 50 lakh if tickets are booked through IRCTC. As per IRCTC, this facility is available for passengers irrespective of the class of tickets and for both domestic and international flights. This insurance provides financial protection against accidental death and total or permanent disability.

1. The insurance partner of IRCTC is Bharti AXA General Insurance. In order to secure the passengers from any unforeseen incident during the journey, the insurance premium is borne by IRTCTC. This insurance cover is for both one-way and round trip.

IRCTC in a tweet said, " #IRCTC partnered with #BhartiAXA general insurance company to provide zero-cost #travelinsurance of upto Rs 50 Lakh for those booking air #tickets through #IRCTCAir website or app."

2. Passengers of Lucknow to Delhi Tejas Express can avail of many benefits which include coverage of Rs 1 lakh against household theft and robbery during travel and Rs 25 lakh free insurance. This travel insurance also includes coverage of Rs 1 lakh against household theft and robbery during the travel period of the passengers.

3. The passengers of Tejas Express can avail of the facility of using retiring rooms at Lucknow junction station and executive lounge at New Delhi Railway station and lounge for meetings on-demand as well.

4. "The IRCTC has come up with so many things. They can provide food of your choice, provide taxi facility from house to the station and station to the house, baggage services like picking up baggage from home to station, entertainment services, provide a wheelchair. They are free to do anything," said the Railway Board Chairman V K Yadav in October.

5. Passengers of IRCTC's Delhi-Lucknow Tejas Express get compensated in case of delays. An amount of Rs 100 will be paid in case the delay is for over an hour and Rs 250 for delays for over two hours.

6. There are travel insurance, household theft insurance, baggage pick up-drop facility, exclusive ticket booking, advanced reservation period, nominal cancellation charges, luxury lounge and variety of foods. Passengers on board will be served premium quality food and beverages. Tea and coffee vending machines have been installed in the train for premium services.
