PMK leader seeks special allowance, insurance cover for doctors and paramedical staff treating Covid-19 patients

CHENNAI: PMK youth wing president and MP Anbumani Ramadoss on Wednesday requested the Centre and Tamil Nadu government to provide special allowance and free insurance cover for doctors and paramedical staff who treat Covid-19 patients.

Anbumani, tagging Prime Minister’s Office, union health and family welfare ministry, Tamil Nadu chief minister and state health minister, tweeted, “Requesting the governments to issue free life insurance policies to doctors, nurses and health workers treating coronavirus infected patients and also to provide them special allowances till such time.”

PMK founder S Ramadoss has also taken to social media to express his concern and urged the governments at the Centre and state to follow the guidelines of WHO in preventing the spread of coronavirus. He requested the governments to intensify testing every suspected case.

In a series of tweets, he stated that people coming from foreign countries were being tested for coronavirus infection and he insisted that testing should be extended to all people in the country who show symptoms of infection. People working at airports and ports should also be tested.

Holidays should be declared for government offices which draw more number of public. Weekly markets should be closed. The government should declare holiday for teachers except those engaged in board exam work.
