What Good Advisors are doing amidst COVID-19 crisis?

We are in nerve-racking times when insurance advisors are considered to be a port in this storm. As an insurance advisor and leader, it’s time to remind your clients that you are just a phone call away during this global pandemic, because clients will be looking for reassurance and support more than ever. Just because almost the entire world is under self-quarantine, the need for a financial/insurance advisor doesn’t recede.

Even while they are working from home, here’s what good advisors are busy doing:

·       Touching base with customers

This is the most important time to stay in touch with your customers because people are indeed uncertain about what lies ahead. Good advisors are reaching out to clients via emails, calls, video conferencing to reassure them that they are in this together. Let them know you’re here to help and support them with any queries or concerns. This will help you build trust and eventually a lasting relationship with your customers.

·       Follow up on ongoing cases

Good advisors are leveraging the online avenue to close their pending deals. By proactively sending out an online link, they are gearing up for potential closures on ongoing cases. Such follow ups help in reinforcing customer belief and commencing a dialogue with them on a positive note as well.

·       Staying optimistic

We are all experiencing major life changes and it can be hard to put up with it suddenly. But good advisors understand that the best of human nature can rise to the challenge. Staying positive is a core ingredient in the recipe of successful coping in a crisis such as this.

·       Sharpening their skills

Good advisors are using this downtime as an ideal opportunity to harness their product knowledge and industry insights. So, dust off those books and literature on insurance and product pamphlets and figure out how you can make the most of them.

·       Build your social network

It’s no secret that the right connections on LinkedIn can make a huge difference in your profile. Having a strong LinkedIn network and engaging with your connections can be an invaluable asset for you. Good advisors are using their time from home to nurture their online network. What are you waiting for?

·       Spread awareness about insurance

Good advisors are having a healthy dialogue with customers to take insurance seriously. Because, a crisis always comes unannounced whether it’s a global pandemic or a personal loss. It’s important to generate that awareness and encourage preparedness amongst people.

Connect with team members

Show a calm demeanor to your team while giving them opportunities for professional development. Mentor your team to grow as professionals and work on their areas of improvement. Do a constructive virtual feedback session with your team in order for them to stay high-spirited and driven.

·        Engage with prospective recruits

With all the uncertainty in the world today, it is more important than ever that recruiters provide proactive, clear communications that inform, reduce fear, uncertainty and doubt about the industry and also set positive expectations for the business going forward to prospective candidates. Give them an assurance that the current crisis will eventually pass, and better times lie ahead.
