Insurer introduces remote facility inspection system on mobiles

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Generali's P&C unit Global Corporate & Commercial (GC&C) Iberia & LatAm has developed a new system for remote facility inspection through mobile phones in Spain.

GC&C decided to respond proactively as claim assessment work have been hampered by COVID-19 travel bans that make on-site visits extremely challenging. 

The new system, developed to be implemented on a permanent basis as a risk management and analysis solution tool, offers a variety of remote facility inspections.

The remote inspection can be activated after the client receives a text message containing a link that allows them to send videos and pictures in real time as well as to start video calls to document specific circumstances. An app download is not needed for the service.

These virtual inspections may be supplemented with on-site visits when the complexity of the facility or the company's exposure make physical visits preferable.
