Q&A

When you started your career and in which company?

I began my professional career with a digital startup company offering DIY websites via content management systems – this was in the mid-90s, long before the technology ‘took off’

How you started your career?

I was part of the start-up with other founders from the university in Denmark

What were your stepping stones in career?

My career has never been planned but I have found myself to consistently move to increasingly complex challenges of business development and transformation – I spent around four years with one of the big management consulting firms and I really honed my analytical skills and strategy competences during this period

My book coming out in September will be another stepping stone

Who influenced you the most in your career and why?

My CEO at SOS International has been one of the most influential people in career alongside the President and CEO of Qatar Insurance Group. The CEO of SOS International inspired and coached me on all political aspects of top-level management and how to improve teamwork in the upper management

The CEO at QIC and I had a great teamwork in business building and innovation and I learned about working in a hyper-cultural setting

Your first day at work?

Too long ago for me to remember

When you wanted to quit?

When I received the following feedback from a CEO: “If this is such a good idea, why haven’t anyone else done it” – this was when we proposed an automated e-mail marketing tool in 1997…

Why you choose Insurance?

It was by chance, not decision – I was working in the far east and needed a co-investor to acquire a company in Dubai and ended up by receiving an offer by the partner (QIC) I couldn’t refuse

Your Career advice to youngsters?
