South Bombay resident duped of Rs 2 lakh in insurance scam

MUMBAI: Malabar Hill police busted a call centre racket run from a village in Guatam Budh Nagar in UP and arrested a gang of four, including a woman, who used to pose as representatives of an insurance firm and duped a Malabar Hill resident of Rs 2 lakh.

Police on Friday arrested Rashid Yunus Khan (New Delhi), Asif Yunus Khan (Hapur, UP), Rakhi Tyagi alias Aruna Singh and Ashu Verma (Sahibabad, UP). Police recovered nine mobile phones, 9 SIM cards and more than a dozen debit/credit cards. Rakhi used to pose as a banker or insurer firm staffer and dupe victims. All were booked under IPC sections for cheating, forgery and breach of trust, and under Information Technology Act, were were remanded to police custody till December 16 by a local court.
