All police personnel of Kurnool district now covered under Covid-19 insurance scheme

TIRUPATI: Thanks to the efforts of Kurnool SP Dr Kaginelli Fakeerappa, the entire police force of the district who are sweating out day-in and day-out to stringently enforce Covid-19 curbs are now covered under the SBI-linked COVID-19 insurance scheme.

To extend Covid-19 insurance cover to the 3,812 odd policemen across the district, Nandyal MP Pocha Brahmananda Reddy extended a donation of Rs.20 lakh while Rs.13 lakh was drawn from the district police welfare fund. The total paid up premium towards securing Covid-19 insurance cover for the entire police workforce in the district was Rs.33 lakh.

Kurnool SP Dr Kaginelli Fakeerappa thanked the Nandyal MP for extending donation for the welfare of the district police force who have laid their own lives in line of duty to protect the public from falling prey to the Covid-19 global pandemic. "We are proud to say that Kurnool is the first district in the state where all the police personnel are covered under the Covid-19 insurance scheme", added Kurnool SP.
