CID busts fake call centre for Cov insurance scam
Kolkata: The CID has four directors and eight employees of a fake call centre operating out of three floors of a commercial tower in Rajarhat.
The company cheated local and foreign “clients” by offering them fake insurance and loans, including “special packages” for Covid patients. They carried out the fraud in the name of top insurance firms, police said.
Many of the 100 employees of the call centre were working from home when CID raided the office. Over 40 mobiles and a large number of documents were seized. CID said they had slapped cases of cheating and fraud under IPC and Section 66 of IT Act.
