Rajasthan: Man gets himself killed for insurance payout to family

JAIPUR: A Bhilwara-based money lender who was under severe financial stress hired contract killers to murder him so that his family could claim Rs 50 lakh insurance that he had bought. His plan was exposed when police tracked down the criminals. During interrogation, two contract killers confessed they were paid by the man himself for his murder.

Although the investigation is underway, the cops claimed that they had enough evidence to prove that the victim was the architect of his own murder. The victim, Balveer Kharol, who was in his late 30s had hired contract killers and paid them Rs 80,000 for his own murder, claimed police. Kharol had recently sold a property and given Rs 20 lakh to borrowers, but neither did he get the principal sum back nor the interest because of which he was troubled for the last six months. His body was found on Bhilwara-Chittorgarh highway on September 3 with a rope around his neck and face covered with a polythene bag with the cause of death likely to be asphyxiation.

The two accused arrested were identified as Sunil Kumar (26) from Hardoi in Uttar Pradesh and Rajveer (37) from Kurukshetra in Haryana. Mangrop SHO Mahaveer Prasad Meena told TOI, “During interrogation of the accused, we found that Balveer had planned his murder due to financial stress. He had gone with Sunil on September 2 where he was killed as per the plan.”

According to officials, the victim had taken out a life insurance policy of Rs 50 lakh a month prior to his murder and paid the premium of Rs 8,432. The policy could be claimed after August 28 and cops say this was the reason that the victim planned to get killed after that.
